My yorkie is now 7yrs old and has been in the pool many times from puppy right up to this year. He is not in it excessively but when he is hot and the kids are out there playing he has been known to jump in.. then swim like hell to get to the stairs almost like he is saying to himself. "what the heck was I thinking'. He does tend to rub the deck to dry off so I got him a chair cushion and put it on the ground and he rubs on that and lays under the canopy watchin the kids. I can't say he enjoys the water, he just knows it cools him off. He does try to drink the water and we discourage that and have a bowl with fresh water in it for him. My brother has an airedale and he jumps in and thinks he is human which is where I think my Trinket picked the jumpin in part.. its too funny. By my experience I would say go ahead.. let him swim just not drink. |
