My vet told me that it's really better for them to eat ONLY dry food. Of course, my Max will eat almost EVERYTHING, but he's used to having his canned food in the morning and evening, so I give him his dry food (it's better for their teeth, which small breeds esp. Yorkies are notorious for having bad teeth problems)in small amounts thru the day. I used to free feed his dry food until I realized he was eating wayyyyyy too much, LOL! But you're doing really well, and you should be very happy that your dog likes the dry food. That's the healthiest thing for them. I do give Max some chopped up and peeled apples sometimes ...I think veggies are good for them on the whole, I just have to be careful b/c we've had pancreatitis.
