OK, so after having Tucker home for almost three months we are about to embark on crate training.
I didn't do it before because it made me sad to think about him all alone in a little cage so I opted to leave him in a large X-pen in our bedroom with lots of room to move around and play in. Well... after coming home to dried poopy paw prints all over the floor and dried poop caked on him several times and due to the fact that he is apparently Houdini puppy and has escaped his X-pen three times, we are going to attempt crate training. He is pretty good at holding his pee now that he is almost six months old so I'm confident that he'll do well with it after the initial transition period.
Do you think I am doing the right thing? Any suggestions on how to start? |
