you might try it with him on an elevated surface (keep him on a lead and have someone help so he doesn't jump).Put him into sit, and make an L shape motion from his nose, past the edge of the elevated surface, and then out towards you. This will bring his body down and then out. The elevated surface makes it so that you can lower the treat far enough that he HAS to put his whole body down. If you are clicker training, click as soon as he is laying, before he sticks his little tush up, then he'll catch onto what you want! Training takes SO much patience!
