I am teaching myself also, and it's been a lot of fun! Just keep trying. I make mistakes, but I learn from them. Everyone on here has been helpful when I had questions. Just try it! Some of the patterns can get expensive, so I search for sales or look at dog clothing in stores and try to make my own. Do a search for dog patterns on the web. There are some free ones out there. Search the sales at fabric places and ask about the remnant section. I have found that I can pick up enough for a little outfit for a couple of bucks. Good luck and have fun!
