I would assume he was from a puppy mill too being from an Amish family. Maybe they all don't run puppymills but it's pretty commonly known that they do. A lady on another forum I get on bought a bichon/maltese mix last year from an amish family. She was told this was just an accidental litter and that they usually only bred maltese and bichons (but not together). When she got there the pups were in a basket in the house and they picked one out. As they were leaving they noticed all the cages outside in a shed... Turned out it was a puppymill. She got the puppy anyway...ended up having a ton of medical problems
