I don't breed, but after seeing a few post on here about dog napper, and seeing that one video where they had 2 shots of the ones who napped the dogs (don't think they were yorkies, but thats been months ago too), can't blame you all for feeling this way.
Do any of you single ladies know a police officer that would possibly "pose" as your husband when showing? Or a big brother or huge bro-in-law? Maybe your best friends husband can be borrowed when showing? Hey, rent a cop, or even the cop stripper, with the uniform, lol?
When I got Venus, lady I got her from said the man there was her husband. Dunno if he was, and don't care who he was. Looking back, glad he was there with her, as she had a lot of yorkies to protect. She even showed me the kennels. I know probably many of you have as many as she does in her breeding program.
Even show pups at a friend or relatives home might be better. How bout your church? Ok, digging wild here for you all!
I know from what I've learned on yt this past year alone, I'd sure have survelence of the driveway, front door, and even inside the foyer. It can save a lot of money "if" that happened to you, much more than it'd cost to have it hooked up. And a huge heartache too. I saw the video of dognappers here a good while back. Can't remember the city, but they got faces on camera, and think they were found by their faces being on the news.
I know its a fear, and I can't blame you for being afraid for your dogs, as well as your own life. Too much schit been going around this past year or so about dog nappers.
I've bought 2 yorkies. But then again, I'm on my side of the fence, if someone doesn't want to show at their home, I'd really wonder if they were running a puppy mill.
Also, I know if I had more than 2 dogs and pups, I'd sure lie about how many I had on the phone, and I'm not one to lie!
Is there someone's home that will keep your other dogs, while your showing? Relative or dear friend? I know it would scare me if I were in your shoes too. I wouldn't want them to see anything but "the" puppies they were picking from, and the parents if requested.
Seems like some of the pet shops would help you all. Like have a day of "showing" dogs at their shop.
You have a cousin that's big, with lots of tatoo's that looks like a biker? LOL. or kids hang around anyone fitting that description. Promise them a good meal for staying while this is going on, possibly?
I don't breed, but thought about it when I first got Venus. I live alone, but thats not what changed my mind. After being on here, bout 4 months, I learned it took a lot more to breeding than getting a male and female together. After learning enough of what it DID take, I knew I wasn't breeder material. I'd cry for weeks if I lost one little puppy. Also, I'd want to keep them all!
I hope you all can come up with ways, to keep the fear out of breeding. The world really shouldn't be this way....and its sad it is. |
