I was waiting in the dr's office (well, in the cold room) and reading a Reader's Digest. Normally not something i read.
i read an article that said children who read to their dogs do better in reading type learning. it also said some of it is because the dog doesn't judge. this is also good for kids who view reading as a chore.
so i told my son who is 7, "did you know i read that dogs really like to be read to? it makes them feel loved!" (Raven knows i'm smart because i read all the time, so he believes me)
guess what Raven did last night before he went to bed? yep, he pulled out a book and read a story to Ganja. i was so impressed! |
It's a proven fact that kids who read to dogs do better in reading in general. That's why the RUFF Reading Program exists at our local Children's Library where I take my Bichon, Cosmo, so the kids can read to him. Cosmo listens intently and doesn't ever correct them or mind if they misread a word. It's great and they love interacting with Cosmo.
