Default Hello from Scotland

I've just joined this huge forum so thought I would introduce myself. I live just north of Aberdeen in NE Scotland with Fargo - my 15 month cocker spaniel and 3 cats (Indy the Siamese, Betsy the Bengal x Burmese, and Baghee - a huge big black moggie) and not forgetting my partner!

I am going to look at some Yorkshire terrier pups on sunday !! They are from a kc registered breeder who shows as well. I have to be careful where I live as I understand there are a lot of 'puppy farms' in this area, but this sounds like a genuine breeder and was recommended by the scottish club.

I'm very excited but would like to know if there are any particular things to look for in a yorkie pup? It will be for a pet only and will be neutered when old enough. There are just boys left from the litter, and I’m keen on a getting the larger one that is left, as it will have a boisterous spaniel to play with and lots of beach walks when old enough (currently 11wks old)

Should I be concerned about the size difference between the puppy and my spaniel (6kg). I would plan to crate the puppy initially so he is not loose with fargo overnight. I would obviously carefully supervise play time but would they be safe to play together from the start? Fargo is neutered and very easy going, and has shown no signs of toy/food possession at all.

At what age would a yorkie cope with 1 hour long beach walks – I would gradually build up the excersise as it gets older but from what age are they able to cope with ‘proper walks’.

I’m sure I will have lots more questions, but also hope to learn a lot about this breed from this forum.
