In the pool he can't touch, so I put him in and naturally they start swimming. If he's on a raft he hesitates to dive him, but if I refuse to pick him up and put him in, he will jump. In the lake he started by running in the water, then he went out further where it dropped off so he swam. Also, along the shore we were running, and some parts in his line were deeper (where he can't touch) so he would run, swim, then run again when he could touch.
