My parents gave up on carpet, too. In the house they just sold, it was all tile. In the house they just built and are in now, it's all hardwoods. Nobie, you may wanna look at the thread entitiled, "Who has replaced their floors courtesy of their yorkies" or something like that.
Maybe you could consider replacing the floors JUST in their room..........
