I was just reading all the posts on sweetr's thread (Happy Birthday

) and they were reminding me of some of the neighborhoods I've lived in in the past.
Now, we live in a really dog-friendly neighborhood. Everytime my husband and I think of moving, we decide against it because we are so comfortable here with our three dogs and one cat.
LOL, if you are in my backyard on a nice spring evening and a firetruck happens to go by in the vicinity, you literally cannot hear for a couple of minutes because of the "howling" that goes on in the backyards around me. One starts and the rest join in.

The best thing is, these are happy, well-cared for pets, not a single pet, that I can picture, lives outdoors. I think the owners would be put straight quickly

Pets who go for daily walks/jogs, trips to the park...people are always walking their dogs past our house, very often they have more than one.
Heck, in the 7 houses nearest to me (my immediate neighbors) I can only picture one house without any dogs (they're new to the neighborhood, perhaps we'll change all that) and count 11 dogs and an unknown quantity of kitties.
Sure, living in here has it's drawbacks. Our house is old (1932) and needs some work, occasionally some pet owner ignores the clean up rules and leaves poo lying around, and with small dogs I need to be alert for the big dogs when walking my two. (although I can honestly say that I have never, not once, encountered a problem and have only had a couple of times when I was concerned that I might). On another note, a few years back we had some break-ins in the neighborhood. The policeman who came to our block party told us that the robbers only chose homes without dogs..the ones without barking.
So, I read the stories about the dog unfriendly neighborhoods, and I think...hmmm, maybe those new homes we've been looking out, aren't such a great idea after all.
What is your neighborhood like???
