Oh my goodness! We taught Toto to only use her little "boosts" up and down from the sofa or bed. So far, so good! I don't know quite how you will teach them since the boosts are provided and they aren't using them. I know it
is bad for their little knees, especially if they are landing on hardwood, tile, marble, etc. Sounds like you both have little wild boys!
