I love leather...ours is heated and it is soo nice in the winter! I haven't noticed a problem with it being too hot in the summer though, but I know what you are talking about. It is easy to clean and easy to care for too!
My husband has some sort of new material in his company truck. I can't explain it, but it looks nice and repels water, etc.
