He's the perfect age for Legge-perthes disease to show up. Keep an eye on him, check his leg for muscle deterioration. If his limp doesn't improve and you notice that he keeps the foot hovering over the floor instead of putting weight on it get him to the vet for xrays. He may have just irritated it but it pays to be causious. The good news is if it's Legge-perthes, the surgery is cheaper and the recovery very successful. My little Cricket had the surgery in Feb and you would never know that she's had it. You have to really examine it to see that that leg is slightly shorter than the other one. It doesn't pain her at all and there is no risk of arthritis developing since there is no bone contact at the joint. Hope this helps. I hope he is better soon.
