Ana was recently in to see the vet for an annual exam and I was told that she already has luxating patellas in both back legs! The vet said that as long as it doesn't seem to bother her and she isn't constantly limping, then it should be okay. The whole situation shocked me because Ana is only 4 months old. I do know that it is a common problem in small breed dogs and if it gets increasingly worse then it will require surgery. Hopefully it doesn't come to that!
On the pet insurance issue, I have full coverage for my yorkie under VPI pet insurance, however, the company will not cover genetic defects (such as luxating patella). If anyone knows of any insurance companies that will cover it, please let me know!
