Is the stud a champion or at least pointed? Is his breeder current on all the test necessary and will she be responcible for the pups in the event that you can't? The selection of the stud is very important, make sure he ihas the genetic makeup that you want your pups to carry. I think $500. is a bit much for an unproven male but I guess it really does depend on where you're located. This should all be discussed with the studs owner and put down in writing.
