It's just a matter of preference. I have had both and Buddy is no better

In my above post I used the term "mutts" as it was used by OP. Personally, it doesn't offend me and I've had mixes in the past, as well as currently (Kirby is a mix). I usually shy away from using that term, however, even when describing my own critters since I have learned that it does offend some.
