I got it fairly wet. I used a squirt bottle on the stream setting. What might actually work best if you have a large area is one of those gardening watering cans with the shower nozel like top on the spout. You want to sprinkle the water on to get the carpet fairly wet but not soaking. Then sprinkle the borax powder on top and let it dry.
