Grade one is not so bad. Usually they have no pains because of this grade. Grade one means that the patella can be removed but it jumps back itself and it never jumps out without manipulation. My oldest bitch is now 7 years old and at the time when she was born, there were no yokies checked here in Germany. So at the tender age of 1 year she had PL Grade 3 on both leggs. Thatīs really worse, because she couldnīt run like others at her age. We decided an operation would be the best choice and it was, today she runs like a young dog through the gras and the fields. Of course we never bred with her, because there is always the danger that the puppies will be ill too. Here in germany you are allowed to breed with grade 0-1 in our club in the other one from 0-2(but grade 2 only with a dog or a bitch with grade 0). I think you should only look after the weight, but normally you neednīt be afraid that she will get problems later.
