I also think that comparing toddlers to yorkies is just a weird analogy. Toddlers are children that cannot fend for themselves in any way, nor is it safe for them to.

Yorkies, while they might get into mischief, can handle certain things on their own. I know that mine are a LOT of work, but I have multiple dogs one year of age or less. I made this commitment to working with them and am not working right now (but if I do work in the future it will be alternately scheduled with DH so that the babies are not left alone).

I am postponing having children until they are all at least a few years of age, because I know that is what will be best for my personal situation.

But that is just the thing, it's totally personal. Some yorkies can stay home a full work day without their owners.. the owners puppy proof the house.. and the yorkie is fine.

You can't just leave your toddler alone in an xpen or room alone and expect it to be able to feed itself, relieve itself, ect.

I think I know what you were getting at by starting this post, I just think it came across wrong.
