Yorkies are a small breed and in high demand. They have very small litters (usually 2-4) opposed to say a lab that has 10 puppies. Smaller litters means less puppies means more per puppy. Plus a higher price per puppy hopefully deters a lot of people that don't have the money to spend on higher vet bills, grooming costs, etc. that comes with owning a yorkie as opposed to a larger, stronger breed of dog
