I'm going to interject here, just because I am a breeder/exhibitor. You would be absolutely pleasantly surprised at how low the prices show breeders adoption fees are. More often than not they are less than breeders that you find on the internet and advertise in the paper who are just breeding to sell puppies.
First of all breeder/exhibitors are breeding for themselves for their next champion to add to their breeding program, that one special puppy that has the "it" factor. Unfortunately, we can't keep all the puppies, so they are placed in preapproved homes. The problem is since we only breed for that next Champion we only breed 1 or 2 litters a year and have a waiting list.
