I think we need to be careful about making such generalizing statements like 'people should not own a yorkie if ...." It's generalizing statements like that that prevent perfectly suitable parents from adopting a yorkie from a rescue organization because they work, or they don't have a fenced yard, etc. Then they are forced to go elsewhere for a yorkie when they could have provided a home for a homeless one. Since when does spending 24/7 with a yorkie (or child) make you a better parent? I work with children for a living, and I can tell you that I treat my dogs better than many of these children get treated--and their parents typically AREN'T of the working variety
