Yorkies, even as adults, don't get beyond the toddler stage. Would you leave your toddler alone in the house to chew on electrical cords, would you leave your toddler alone in your backyard without supervision, would you fall asleep and let your toddler do whatever toddler's do when their not supervised??
I feel that if your life is too busy to watch a dog 24/7 (at least when you're home (obviously you would have other arrangements when you are at work) - then maybe you're not a candidate to own a Yorkie.

I think this goes for anyone owning a yorkie or any other 4 legged pet..as puppies they all are prone to chewing etc. so all of them have to be watched not just the yorkies until they are taught like the op said not to do so and are trustworthy enough to have full run of the house...Mine is no where near ready and he probably won't be for a long time but i know that and handle him accordingly which i am sure everyone who has a pet does and its a case by case situation
