Default Chicken and rice

My 9 year old yorkie Holly, has had problems with severe diarrhoea for the past 2 years now, severe colitis apparently. it comes and goes, but when she has it it's awful. because she was treated terribly before we rehomed her at 5 years, she won't ask to go out, so if I miss the signs (panting or trembling) then she does it in the house aghhhhh.
Well the vet recently put her on Royal Canin sensitivity food, but it is really expensive at £1.00 a tin, so I am cooking my own chicken and rice, this has taken a week for her to adjust to, we had some runny poops, but now she is solid again.
Has anyone else got this problem.
I was wondering if anyone had any advice they can give me? I am also concerned about her not getting the right vitamins. My 5 year old yorkie is also eating this now too, as when i was feeding him different foods, because he is fussy he would leave some and Holly would eat it. I just couldn't keep tabs on her.NOT GOOD
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys.
