Kennel cough takes about forever to go away - anyway it seems to! Depending on the dogs the cough can last longer. We have had it twice....we got it once from the vet and the slight lingering cough lasted about 5 months and then we had a dog come into our home with it..can't say for sure how long she had it before she got to us, but it only lasted about a month here. It is usually something they just have to get over. Antibiotics are given only to try to have it not go into the chest area - it really doesn't cure the kennel cough - only time does that.
