I have no problem offending someone to keep my baby safe. I almost always say no when someone asks to hold her. I don't mind people and kids petting her if they ask first, but no holding. The only people that normally get to hold her are me, my mom and dad, sister, close friends, and coworkers (she goes to work with me and knows them well)...I would only let someone hold her if I really trusted them with her (and she's 7lbs not tiny LOL) She gets all stiff and nervous if she doesn't know the person holding her. Wouldn't you be scared if someone 20+ times your size was holding you way up in the air and you didn't know them? Don't worry about offending them - they'll get over it.
