Tiling is really easy, I have done lots of it but only indoor. I have only used ceramic tile. It is the easiest to cut. All you need is a tile cutter and maybe some nippers. They now make ceramic that looks like stone. The only thing I would be cautious of is that ceramic tile is porous, it can absorb water, and URINE. You will need to apply a good sealer to the grout. I suggest you stop by your local home store and find out which products are recommended for your application and pet issues. You may need to go with a stone tile, in which case you will need to rent a wet saw to cut it unless the area you are tiling will be a perfect fit for the size tiles you are using. The likelihood of that is slim to none in my opinion. You might also consider using pavers or decking wood. Good luck and have fun! I wish I lived closer, I would come help you!
