When mine doesn't get his way, he does what I call "sassing." He will look me in the eye challengingly and then growl and even bark -- but it's always in a playful way. He usually does this when I try to break him up of his "under the furniture" fetish. He's convinced there's something he wants under every piece of furniture that has a space between it and the floor. He tries to dig under the couch, the buffet, the china cabinet and the stove. When I tell him to stop, he smart-mouths me! He'll also sulk sometimes when I scold him, giving me this pitiful look and laying down with his head on his hands.
