Please don't buy a puppy from a pet store. Almost all of them come from puppy mills and you run a great risk of having a very sick puppy on your hands. High vet bills aside, it would be so heartbreaking to watch the puppy you fall so much in love with become very ill. I had a close friend whose daughter bought a pug puppy (Frankie) from a pet store in our mall. He was so sick. He didn't show any symptoms until a couple of weeks after she brought him home. I can't remember his exact diagnosis but he had encephalopathy (swelling of the brain). He wasn't expected to live. Frankie ended up with a miracle and he is fine now (3 years later) but it's just not worth the risk, heartache, and expense. There is alot of good information here on pet stores and puppy mills and puppy brokers. I'm sure someone else with lots more knowledge than me will chime in. Good luck with your search for a puppy!
