You are correct, they can be the result of a breeding between to standard color parents. I was just curious as I know that there are some people who wouldn't breed the chocolate off spring to prevent the non-standard color from being passed on, and there are some who would, hoping to produce more and sell them for more $$$.
I was just wondering if AKC would allow the chocolate to be bred with registerable litter.
