I've never had "bold paynuts," and they just don't sound good to me. Now, if you wanna pass the fried okra, fried green tomatoes, field peas (feel pays), then we're talking.
I was just in Kentucky in April. I didn't really think of it as the south the same way as I do Mississippi (which is where my family is from).
