Do NOT buy a Verizon Cell from an "authorized dealer" Go to the actual Verizon store!!! I sure didn't know the difference, until now!!!!!!!!!! I went to National Electronics in Middlesex, New Jersey to get a phone for my aunt. I figured, they are an "authorized Verizon dealer" so they must have to follow the same rules. NOT! So, here's the story...
Two weeks ago I took my aunt for a phone. 3 days later it got really hot and wouldn't charge. Then it turned on, and would turn off. So I told her, "Let's go back and exchange the phone. But maybe get a better phone instead."
So we go back and the guy will NOT take back the phone. He said they don't take back defective phones! WTF!?!?! He said we had to send it to Verizon and gave us a 1-866 number to call. He wouldn't even give us the same phone, and take back the defective one. Then I told him that we didn't want that phone anyway, we wanted a different model (at the Verizon corporate store you have 30 days to return ANY phone for ANY reason). He told us that we had to have a working phone first, then we can come back and get a better model. My aunt and I were so upset after we left this place.
So we finally get the replacement phone today from Verizon. I call up the guy and tell him we're coming in. He's acting like he has NO clue what I'm talking about!!!!!!!!!!! I was yelling on the phone for over a half an hour b/c now he's saying that he won't take this phone b/c it's a replacement and not in his original stock and he "never told me that". Are you kidding!?!?!?!?!?
At this point I am LIVID! I'm gonna tell everyone how crappy their customer service is. I'm even thinking about writing the newspaper. But, "my fault" b/c I didn't read the contract.
Anyway, I told him I wanted to talk to his manager. Well some guy called me, b/c of course manager is on vaca, and this guy apologized and told me that the other guy made a mistake and we can't exchange this "new" phone. Actually, I was glad that this one admitted the other guy was wrong, but why didn't that original guy fess up!!!!!!! I am so pissed!!!!!!
Here are their ridiculous rules:
* They won't exchange defective phones, you have to send them to Verizon yourself.
* If you don't like your phone you get from them, and want to upgrade, you have to have LESS THAN 5 minutes talk time. How crazy is that? Like somebody is gonna know after 5 minutes if they like the phone!!!!!
* With Verizon, you have 30 days to cancel and return any phone for any reason. With National Electronics, you can cancel the service in 30 days, but you have to pay about $200 or so to National Electronics for canceling!!!!! See, those are the hidden things people don't pay attention to!
So, my advice to you all, if you want to get Verizon service, GO DIRECTLY TO A VERIZON STORE NOT AN "AUTHORIZED DEALER." These idiots have their own crazy rules!
Now we are keeping the refurbished phone in hopes that this doesn't start acting up. And worse comes to worse, I'll give my aunt my old phone.
(I'm posting this everywhere I know b/c I'm so annoyed. MySpace bulletin here I come! LOL )
PS. Sorry so long! But I'm long winded when I'm mad!
