Exactly why I'm always insistant on one. Nothing is a guarantee to number of pups, as you mentioned, but it will give you a good indication if there are any that appear to be too big to deliver naturally. My outlook is, I'd rather myself and my vet be informed and ready than have a female in distress surprising us and putting us in a panick and off to the ER Vet in the wee morning hours.
