Default Got a new puppy, 8 weeks; What health checks do I need to do?

So we just got a new yorkie and this is our first time we EVER owned a dog. Her name is Pocky

anyways, it's only 8 weeks old at the moment, with no shots and not dewormed yet. I went to a vet last week and she told me some pricing.

48$ checkup + vaccine = 80$
dewormer = 20$
stool analysis = 23$

All in canadian dollars.

Then she started to talk really fast and I couldn't seem to ask her to slow down because she seemed to be in a rush, but I did a catch a small bit that I would have to pay every month for the dog's medication.

I'm very skeptical of practices that clinics would do. Will they try to leech as much money of me as they can with medication my dog doesn't need? Hell, even paying for the stool analysis seems ludicrous.

Either way, any advice is appreciated. Seeing that this is our first puppy, what are some of the things we need to do, health/medical wise?

Thanks for the help.
