I don't know if it is better or worse, but at night we keep our's in one of those cages in the front living room. If they sleep with us, they wake us up during the night; in their cage, they usually quiet down. If they are calling, I just holler whoever is barking "BRONX!" or ZOWIE!" - and they will stop and go on to sleep.
