I have a 2nd job substituting at a day care (infant through preschool) When I went in for my interview I wore jeans and a regular plain colored shirt, and sneakers of course! I think they are interested in seeing the 'real' you. Just be yourself, smile a lot, and let the director at the center know you are really interested in the job. Don't wear low-cut or v-neck shirts and make sure when you bend down that your back doesn't show. I know that is a major issue with the way they make jeans these days. Always wear sneakers. I know at my center they frown upon flip flops or sandals that may make you trip. And you can imagine how terrible that would be if you were holding a baby!
You will do fine. Make sure you mention all of your experience with children. Let us know how it goes!
