Actually, her name isn't "Penny Lane" - that's our "kennel Name" (of sorts anyway since we don't breed). There's two stories here.
First - Penny's registered name is "Durrer's She's Like a Flower"
It was supposed to be "Durrer's We Saved our Pennies"
We've had MANY yorkies over the years, but most were rescues and all were pet quality. When mom retired, I promised her a show dog. So we bought a huge piggy bank and saved and saved and saved. When we heard that there was a tiny golden-haird B-ch and a DURRER dog, we knew her name had to be "Penny." Unfortunatly, our breeder had already registerd her with the CKC and AKC would not allow us to change her registration papers . . .so her show name is not anything like her call name.
We decided on "penny lane" - first in honor of Penny, of course but also because the Beatles were from the North of England - where Yorkies are from, and Penny Lane is IN England.
