I'm a military wife and all Army bases now require pets to be registered with them, especially if you live on base, AND they require all pets to be microchipped. The reason? Too many pets escape, get lost, etc while moving or just on accident. So when the base personnel finds the pet, as they usually do, they can identify the owners. My three cats have been microchipped for years with no adverse side effects. In fact the cats didn't even react to the initial injection. Eury is scheduled to be microchipped on July 11th. The vet initially wanted to wait cause when I first took her in she was barely a pound and he wanted to wait till she was a little bigger so it didn't hurt her too much.

Gotta love a good vet!
