My older dog Toby has always slept in his own nighttime crate since the day we brought him home and now Shelby Rose has her own nightime crate sitting right next to Toby's in our bedroom.

When Shelby occasionally cries in the middle of the night to go out, she sometimes wakes up Toby and he then gets in the big bed with us (for the remaining couple hours till morning) and Shelby goes back to her crate.

I like letting them have their own sleep space at night instead of piling into the big bed with us so everyone is comfortable and can get some sleep without rolling into each other.
