My original yorkie was nearly 20 years old when I had to make the decision to put him down. I believe he may have been in the vet's office three times in the lifetime that I had him. He was an inside dog and I didn't see why he needed all these shots. When there was something wrong healthwise which was the few occasions he was there, I made sure he saw the vet. Other than that, he lived a wonderfully long and healthy life without all the things the vet will tell you he needed.
The two dogs I have now pretty much go on the same as needed pretense. They started out with all these shots, etc. and then I started to feel that the vet was out for the money. I'm in the process of looking for a new vet for several reasons also. I really think that a lot of vets push things for revenue and not for the well-being of the dogs.
We just have to be careful of the vets we choose and it sounds like everyone here is doing just that. |
