Sorry but I've gotta disagree about the plucking. If he's not heading for the show ring, but into the grass seeds, I would leave the inside ear alone. It will help keep nasty stuff out, but if you're not trimming his tips to try and keep the flop, be extra sure to check the inside thoroughly every day for problems.
