A bit too soon to tell. Unless you're showing and breeding yorkies, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If your puppy is soft coated, keep it short. I cut down mine, even though they are silk as soon as they are championed....too much work keeping them in coat unless you plan to Special a dog.

There are different grades of silk coats.
