We are planning to rip up the entire downstairs (carpet + laminate) and put down a wood laminate floor. Then we'll put new carpet upstairs.
The nice thing is that Loki is trained and Sammy is almost trained. So I don't worry about the ruining the new carpet & floor. I DO worry about them slipping, but I hate having the carpet downstairs. It just gets so dirty!
ALL of our flooring was junk to begin with and even without doggie puke stains it is nasty. It's 3 year old bottom-grade carpet. It was white and now it's gray. But they wanted SO MUCH $$ to upgrade when we built our house it's cheaper to just go to Lowes and get it replaced with Mohawk or whatever. So I can only put a little bit of blame on the dogs
