When I adopted Charlie, he had dark molting on his skin. I recognize old age skin, but that wasn't it. It was definitely linked to his thyroid condition, and demodex. Once he was treated with ivermectin, and on a twice daily dose of thyroid medication, he skins looks wonderful. His ears even had very dark skin that looked like it could be peeled, but cleared up.
