I use rolled leather collars only to hold their name tag, and the rolled leather does not matt the hair. They have travel harnesses that is padded at the sternum for protection and I also have regular harness but only use them "over" their shirts to prevent matting. I use a regular short leash. I do not like the retractable in case I would have to pull them up in a hurry.
