My Rowdy definitely WILL throw up when he gets stressed. AND it will be yellow bile because when he is stressed he eats very little. AND one of his main stressors is when there is a visiting dog or cat in our house. When they throw up bile, and if they have eaten in the last few hours, the food is being digested because it is out of the stomach.
If they throw up food a few hours after they have eaten, then they most likely have a bug or some reason that the stomach is not digesting the food.
Rowdy has a sensitive stomach and he throws up at least once per month. Sometimes it is only once, sometimes it is for a couple of days. If he is active, playing, and doing his usual daily routine, then I don't worry about him - it's just part of him - and I just watch him closely. But if he acts lethargic, won't play, or has the dry heaves - keeps throwing up when nothing is in his tummy, then I take him to the vet right away.
You will learn your pup and learn when he is sick or not (sorry, Bailey may be a girl - I can't remember!)
