Sorry you are having health issues with your Maxwell....I hope he gets better quickly!
My suggestion is to make sure your Maxwell is tested by the vet for possible ear problems - that can cause balance issues - but also tested for possible liver issues....I think the test that needs to be run is a bile acid test.
