Trowell you are so right about any dog and socialization. I took my VERY pregnant Lexie to the Vet to have a weight check this morning and while I was sitting in the waiting room a young girl brought in her pitbull. My instinct was to hide Lexie by turning my back, and the girl said, "Sam is very sweet." I turned and looked and Sam was sitting right at her foot and looking but not moving a muscle toward Lexie. They came and got Lex for her check-up and I sat down and Sam was soooo sweet. He did not come over to me until his master said it was OK and then was so gentle and nice. The girl and I talked for about 5 minutes and we discussed this very thing. Lex was brought back to me and Sam never moved from the floor by his owner. Lexie was nervous and shaking so I left, but with a very different feeling about pitbulls.******** Oh, by the way...Lexie is over 10 pounds and has at least 6 puppies all of good size growing inside her. I promise more on this subject as it is only Day 41!! |
